Beauty In A Most Unexpected Place

Entry No.  109

I admit that in late afternoon, at this time of year I will take the back way home behind the Walgreen's just to see the sun shining through this plant's bloom.

At Last

I planted at least 30 sweet peas....two months ago.  They are supposed to take 10-21 days to emerge. This is my first sprout.

Childhood Revisited

Entry No. 104

When I was a little girl I was obsessed with snail shells. Today as I was gardening I found this huge one.  I must say, even though I hate what their inhabitants do to my plants, they still are pretty cool.

The Mysteries of Boyhood

These two can hang out for hours at a time without fussing, fighting, or even arguing.  They have always held it each other in the highest regard. We should all have a friend like that.

Unexpected Pleasure

Entry No. 101

I had planned to make a big deal out of my 100th entry, but life had other plans yesterday and I was doing well to even post.  Today, however, as I was going to finally take a few quick shots of a front yard near my house that I have admired many times, fate intervened.  One of the owners, Grant, came out and generously invited me to see the back yard as well.  What a treat.  It has taken he and his husband, Mike, 10 years to create a gorgeous oasis in what was once an mess of brambles.  Enjoy.

This fountain used to be an incinerator.

This is a pitcher plant in bloom, they aren't supposed to grow outside...

This is Grant, Mike was camera-shy.

Oh, and by the way, it's for sale.

Not Exactly My Mamma's Fruit Salad

Entry No. 84

I've gotten a little burned out on apples and oranges, so I decided to mix things up a bit.  Thanks to our awesome grocery stores here in Oakland I was able to add Pineapple, Cherimoya, (custardy food of the gods), Mango, and Dragon Fruit, to the usual Banana, Strawberry, Cherry combo. And, yes, it's as good as it looks.
