For Our Friend

Entry No. 139

This video is of our dear friend, musician Rafael Manriquez Silva,  who passed unexpectedly on Wednesday.  His voice was one of the most beautiful I've ever had the priviledge of hearing. Fortunately,  I expressed this to him on many occasions.

Pretty Poison

Entry No. 130

I have been noticing how beautiful these are along the freeway in the morning light as I take my son to soccer camp.  Today, I decided to take a picture and do a little PSA.

This is Poison Hemlock Conium maculatum,  pretty but deadly.  It is sometimes confused with Queen Anne's Lace or Daucus Carota.  If you ingest the later you may experience a diuretic effect, the former will kill you.  If you want to compare the two side by side click here: Poison Hemlock vs. Queen Anne's Lace

I'm promise this isn't the start of a trend on this blog, but I was astonished when I read this. (Not in a good way.)  One of my favorite sites for group action Care2.
